(Look at the photo on the left)It is SO powerful because it’s the first thing your potential customer reads and looks at.And if your headline isn’t good… well guess what?YOU’RE DEAD.Not literally, but your chance to sell to that customer is dead.If your headline doesn’t get their attention, if it doesn’t pull them into reading the rest of the ad, they will just keep scrolling.

Most ad headlines talk about how awesome their business is, or how great their service is, or how they’ve been serving the community for X amount of years.Something like this ---------------------------------------->
These types of headlines don’t grab attention because they’re generic and boring.They don’t provide any value to the potential customer. They don’t make the customer think: “YES! THIS IS FOR ME!”If you just improved the headlines in these ads, their results would skyrocket.
What Makes A Headline Good
A good headline isn’t the one that has the most technical or most complex language.It isn’t the one that uses big words.A good headline is one that has very simple, everyday language that a normal human being would say.It needs to be enticing, valuable, and most importantly, it needs to speak to the audience that you’re trying to reach.It needs to grab them by their neck and say:
“HEY! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED!”Not literally grab them by the neck… but grab their attention!
One of the most helpful things I’ve learned when writing headlines is to put myself in the shoes of the audience I’m trying to reach.You need to ask yourself:
“Would I keep reading this if I was the customer?”
“What problem is my product/service solving for the targeted audience?”I know… It’s easier said than done, but the more you do it, the better you will become at it.
Hitting The Ball Out Of The Park…
Reading this article would be a waste of time if I didn’t give you an example of a great headline.These are the kind of headlines that work.They are aimed at a specific audience group that might be interested in that topic, they give TONS of valuable information, and they deliver on what they promised.Please don’t hate me for this… But here it is:
I know what you’re thinking now….My article is about headlines, and I’m giving you an example of a great headline, and it’s another article about HEADLINES.Yes, yes, I know… It’s ironic. But I couldn’t help myself.This article was written by Victor Schwab in 1958. That’s 66 years ago... and it’s still one of the most iconic articles about headlines.It’s showing you in real time how a good headline can make you read the article.That’s also what I’m doing by writing this article… or at least hoping to do.I want to prove to you, just like Victor did, that if your headline is good, people will keep reading your ad or your article… or whatever it is that you’re writing.
But keep in mind, what you promise in your headline, you have to deliver on that.If the headline is: “How To Be The Richest Man In The World In 5 Minutes”And after reading for 5 minutes I’m not the richest man in the world… obviously…Then that’s a bad headline. And I would REALLY hate the person for making me read the whole text and not giving me what they promised.Hopefully I have delivered on my promise… and I’ve made you understand how you can force your potential customers to read your ads.

Why CarMax?Well, not only are they the biggest used car dealership in the United States, but I also worked for them!I was a salesman at CarMax, and I will tell you what I learned first hand from the biggest car dealer in the U.S.As business owners, we should respect when someone builds a successful business, and not be envious of them.In fact, if you want to continuously improve your business, you need to get into the habit of analyzing successful businesses, and asking yourself how you could do the same for your own business.
This brings me to my first point…

Systems
Creating systems in your business is one of the deciding factors whether your business will grow or not. If you don’t have systems in place, YOU NEED THEM.When I worked at CarMax, I was amazed at how everything just happens - it was like magic!For example, if I had a customer that wanted a specific car, I would bring that car to another department, and they would clean it and make sure that it’s ready for the customer. All of the paperwork would be taken care of by the business office. I just needed to sell the car, and that was it! This “magic” that I’m talking about is actually the systems that CarMax created.They separated the workload, and made the process of buying a car much faster and much more efficient.This is how they became so big, because of their systems - customers were able to buy cars quickly and easily, and they kept coming back to CarMax.You need the same thing in your business. Create systems that will make the customer’s purchasing flow much easier and faster.This won’t only bring you more customers, but you will have happy employees that will want to work for you.

Customer Satisfaction
For every one unhappy customer… you need 10+ happy customers to balance it out.Online reviews for your business are crucial!If people see that you have a lot of good reviews, they will trust you more. That’s just how humans work.
Therefore, every single business needs to work on customer satisfaction.If you truly want to scale and grow your business…You have to care about your customers’ experience, and if something went wrong in their journey, you have to try your best to make it right.This is what will set you apart from the competitors.This is what will make the customer want to come back and tell their friends about you.When I worked at CarMax, they kept telling us that we have to focus on providing “an iconic experience” for the customer.They trained us to go above and beyond for our customers, in order to make them feel happy about their car shopping journey.And it worked!I had so many customers leave positive reviews, call the store to tell the managers how good their experience was because of me, and guess what?That made me happier too!I could see that I was making a positive impact and that I was helping people, so I was happy for that.Focusing on customer satisfaction won’t only make your customers happy and create a long-term relationship with them, but it will also make your employees happy because they feel like they’re helping others.
